General Tour Notes: Tour dates reported in "Higher and Higher" #31, Summer 1996, p. 45. Opening act Jimmy Spheeris, reported by Karen Koster from October 24, 1981 show. The set list was
compiled from a combination of the following sources: In addition to the songs on the "Mello Yellow" recording, Jim Wehner reported that "Meanwhile, "Painted Smile", "Reflective Smile" and "Veteran Cosmic Rocker" were played at the November 3 and November 21 shows. In a review of the October 24, 1981 concert in the "Kansas City Times" October 26, 1981, reported by Karen Koster, the following songs were mentioned: "Gemini Dream", "The Story in Your Eyes", "Tuesday Afternoon", "The Voice", "Meanwhile", "Nervous", "Steppin' in a Slide Zone", "Talking Out of Turn", "The Balance", "Painted Smile", "Reflective Smile", "Veteran Cosmic Rocker", "I'm Just a Singer (in a Rock 'n' Roll Band)", "Nights in White Satin" and "Question". "Higher and Higher" #31, Summer 1996, p. 44 reported that "Steppin' in a Slide Zone", "Driftwood" and "The Day We Meet Again" were played only on the first leg of the tour, and were dropped for the second leg of the tour. However, "Steppin' in a Slide Zone" was reported in both in the Kansas City Times article and by Jim Wehner for shows on the second leg of the tour, and "Driftwood" was reported by Jim Wehner for two shows on the second leg of the tour. Therefore I have concluded that "The Day We Meet Again" was the only song dropped from the set list for the second leg of the tour, and guessed that it may have been replaced by "Meanwhile". |
